Driven by passion,

fueled by creativity,

and inspired by kids every day.

Hi, I’m Nan McGoff, the founder of LifeSmart Lab Kids.

For over 15 years as a first-grade teacher, I watched children light up when learning felt real. Not just worksheets and textbooks—but moments when math mattered, when problem-solving had purpose, and when curiosity led the way. Those were the moments that stayed with me, and they planted the seed for what would eventually become LifeSmart Lab Kids.

As a founding member of Redeemer Episcopal Day School and a current Student Life Specialist, I spend my time exploring how learning can extend beyond traditional classrooms. I see how powerful it is when kids were trusted with real tools, real responsibilities, and real challenges. When learning connects to the world around them, confidence grows—and so does engagement.

I’ve always been passionate about real-world application and career connections in learning. I believe kids deserve to know not just what they’re learning, but why it matters and how it’s used. At LifeSmart Lab Kids, learning standards come to life in the kitchen, at the river, in the woods, and in all the spaces in between. We cook, build, problem-solve, design, explore, and reflect—turning everyday experiences into meaningful moments.

One of my favorite parts of this work is learning alongside my students. We try new skills together, make mistakes, adapt, and grow. It’s in those shared moments that kids discover they’re capable of more than they imagined.

LifeSmart Lab Kids was created to give kids the chance to build confidence, curiosity, and practical skills—skills they’ll carry with them long after the project is over. This is a place where learning is hands-on, purposeful, and rooted in real life.

Welcome to LifeSmart Lab Kids—where kids learn real skills for real life.
